The 2012 Coda Electric Sedan with MyKey System for Safe driving

Safe car.
Ahead of an all-new, next-generation sedan and five-door hatchback to be launched for model year 2012, the 2011 Focus continues to offer tremendous value by delivering an EPA rating of up to 35 mpg highway (2010 data) while bringing premium content into the compact sedan market.
Safety and security are at the forefront of Focus for 2011. All models feature standard four-wheel ABS and, working in conjunction with ABS, standard AdvanceTrac with ESC using sophisticated sensors to help keep the car under control. Standard on SE, SE
S and SEL trim levels is a perimeter alarm system to discourage vehicle theft and tampering.

On display adjacent to the production Coda is an exposed bare chassis with its full floorpan of thermally-managed lithium-iron phosphate battery cells (728 of them), which provide 33.8 kWh of energy to the front-mounted motor. The motor puts out 134 hp (100kW) with 221 lb.-ft. of torque through a single gear reduction transmission. Observed range is between 90 and 120 miles in the US06 test cycle). A Coda representative stated in confidence tha
t the range figures erred on the conservative side (the US06 is closer to the EPA highway test cycle, which doesn’t favor BEV range).
For production, the Coda sedans will utilize a global network of well-known suppliers and be assembled in California. Once all processes have ramped up, Coda claims to have the capacity to churn out 14,000 units a year. The price of admission isn’t cheap at $44,900, but giv
en the $7500 federal tax credit (and the additional $5000 spiff for Californians) there’s at
least a fair amount of incentive for early adopters to get the
BEV ball rolling. Another upside to going green with Coda is a good amount of standard equipment, which includes touch-screen navigation, Bluetooth and XM satellite radio.
